Introduction

Adverse food reactions are recognized as being potential causes of various gastrointestinal and dermatological signs in dogs and cats. The true prevalence of these disorders is unknown. Accurate recognition of food-related reactions is required to avoid misdiagnosis and improper treatment of other primary gastrointestinal diseases, such as IBD. This chapter will provide a practical overview of the etiopathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis, management, and prognosis of adverse food reactions in companion animals.
