Monitoring

It is essential to monitor patients with complicated UTI to ensure eradication of the infection. Improvement of clinical signs cannot be used as proof of sterile urine. In complicated UTI, a urine culture is recom­mended before treatment initiation, during treatment (in-vivo susceptibility testing and ruling out super-infection) and 5-7 days following treatment cessation, to rule out relapse or early reinfection.
