Owners should be instructed that daily life­long therapy is mandatory. Supplementation with mineralocorticoids can be expensive lead­ing to euthanasia of some dogs. Nonchalant compliance can lead to death. The most impor­tant cause of insufficient response to therapy is inadequate mineralocorticoid dosage or gluco­corticoid side effects.
