AETIOLOGY
Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular coccidian parasite belonging to the Family Sarcocystidae within the Phylum Apicomplexa and is the causative agent of toxoplasmosis. Felids are the only known definitive hosts (DH) and all endothermic vertebrates are thought to be susceptible to infection and capable of acting as intermediate hosts (IH).
