Acute vomiting and diarrhea after ingestion of garbage occurs commonly in dogs. It has been speculated that bacterial toxins are responsible for the clinical signs. Treatment is mainly sup­portive. A more in-depth discussion of adverse reactions to food can be found in chapter 9.1.
