The quality of life of most dogs and cats affected by HAC that are correctly treated is excellent; therefore, medical or surgical treatment is always recommended. In some cases, inadequate control with medical treatment and growth of the pituitary or adrenal gland tumor can cause persis­tence or appearance of new clinical signs. In such cases the owner may decide for euthanasia.
