Surgery and dentistry are covered in Chapters 10 and 13. Pacemakers have been implanted in two Tasmanian devils to manage bradyarrhythmia. In one case, the pace­maker was implanted in the abdominal cavity, with the lead threaded through the diaphragm into the thoracic cavity (San Diego Zoo 2016).
