Computed Tomography
This is a technique that uses multiple radiographic images obtained in different planes. The images are then subjected to computer analysis to produce a series of slices through the body. The result is a very clear and detailed image in 3D. The technique is particularly useful for examination of hard tissues. For comparison of CT with MRI it has to be admitted that the soft tissues of the abdomen and pelvis are better examined with MRI, but CT is less expensive.
