General Somatic Efferent Neurons

The general somatic efferent (GSE) neuron is the lower motor neuron (LMN) of the peripheral nervous system. In the abdomen and pelvis the cell bodies of the GSE neurons are located in the ventral horn of the spinal cord. The axons of these neurons leave the spinal cord to enter the lumbar and sacral spinal nerves. The majority of the motor axons are distributed to the striated muscles of the trunk.
