THE RENAL SYSTEM

The renal system consists of a pair of kidneys which pro­duces urine, an ureters that transport urine to the urinary bladder, an urinary bladder that stores until voided and it also an urethra through which urine voided out. Renal sys­tem mainly involved in removal of waste from the body. Skin, lungs, GIT, salivary glands and the liver are the chan­nels of excretion. Even though various organs are involved in removal of wastes from the body but their excretory capacity is limited. Since urinary system has maximum excretory capacity in excreting substance from body so it plays a major role in homeostasis (Figure 18.1).
