Mastitis

Mastitis, or inflammation of the mammary gland, is a broad diagnosis that may be based on changes in the physi­cal characteristics of the udder or its secretion. Mastitis usually results from an infectious agent, although consum­ing avocado leaves also causes marked inflammation (Craigmill et al. 1992). Several reviews of caprine mastitis have been published (Smith and Roguinsky 1977; Lewter et al. 1984; Menzies and Ramanoon 2001; Bergonier et al. 2003; Contreras et al. 2007).
