Deoxyribonucleicacid

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a nucleic acid that transmits the genetic information to an organism’s progeny. DNA is the chemical basis of inherited characters. It includes instructions on how to make proteins in ribosomes. A gene is a molecule inside a DNA molecule. DNA is found in the nucleus (chromosome) and mitochondria of the cell. The nucleus of a cell contains the DNA responsible for the synthesis of RNA. RNA regulates the synthesis of proteins through ribosomes. Mitochondrial DNA is called non-chro- mosomal DNA.
